Comeks Shorts is a freeware application for Java J2ME based mobile devices that enables users to send visual SMS messages to other cellphone users. You can create your own avatar and use it to send customized text messages. For every message that you send, you can modify the avatar’s mood and the background. Your message text will be displayed in a speech bubble, giving the recipient a look and feel of a cartoon strip.

The cartoon character in the SMS portrayed with the speech bubble is called Shortie, an avatar which expresses yourself. You can change the character’s hairstyle, face, clothes, expression and the background from the mobile application and also add accessories to it. To create a speech bubble, you need to select the “A” symbol to the left side of the Shortie by navigating using the mobile phone’s joystick. There you can type text like when creating a normal SMS.

These Shorties cost the price of a regular SMS. Only a few characters are reserved in the SMS for transferring the graphical information. If the receiver does not have the Comeks Shorts application, the Shorts message is displayed as a normal SMS.

Comeks Application can be used to create comic strips quickly using mobile phone. Created comics can be either saved, sent to your friend via MMS, e-mail or shared in http://www.comeks.com and in other social networks.

In order for Comeks to work properly, you have to set the following permissions to "Always allowed" in Application manager: "Multimedia", "Read user data" and "Edit user data".
